Try using calming essential oils like Lavender, Clary Sage and Camomile.  They have a peaceful, sedative effect on the mind and body.

Be sure to avoid synthetic or ‘fragrant’ oils as they are made from chemicals which are toxic to your liver. 

Herbal teas like valerian and scullcap can be an effective alternative to sleeping tablets, and won’t have the side-effects.  Check with your naturopath or at your local health food store.
