100 Ways To Be Happy - Tip #2
By Penny | February 7, 2007
This tip is just as easy as the first!
Breathe.
Yes, that’s right. Breathe.
Hopefully you’re doing it right now. So pay attention to it.
Breathe in through the nose, all the way down into the diaphragm. Hold the breath for a few moments and let it out, slowly.
After a moment, breathe in again, all the way down to the diaphragm. When I breathe naturally, my belly should rise first, not my chest.  When I shallow breathe into my chest, it raises my stress levels and can even lead to panic attacks. Conscious, right-into-the-belly breathing relaxes me and things start to look right with the world.
So put one hand on your belly and one hand on your chest. Breathe normally and see if you are a shallow/chest breather or a belly breather.
You can’t live without oxygen so make good  breathing a habit. When you’re on the bus, on hold, or at a traffic light, just turn your attention to your breathing and feel the stress start to melt away…
