Can positive self-talk up your self-confidence?

Self-confidence is believing in and feeling good about yourself.  It’s having confidence in your own actions, beliefs and competencies.  Self-confidence is the key to living a successful and fulfilling life.
Self-talk is the little voice inside your head and it can be beneficial or detrimental to your self-confidence. We all know the inner voice that critiques, comments and some tiems even praises.
There are different views about self-talk in relation to achieving self-confidence. To some people self-talk causes obstacles to attaining true confidence. This can be true of people who have no motivation to take the pessimism out of their heads. Unsurprisingly, this can become a vicious cycle, trapping you  in a downward spiral of self-esteem.
Other say self-talk is an important tool in developing self-confidence. Your inner voice can be a teacher or mentor giving constructive feedback, or even a friend. Self-talk is used by successful people in fields liek sports and show business.
