Flagging down a bargain.

www.united-states-flag.com have asked me to review their site. They sell American flags, international flags and associated products like flag themed gifts, flag display cases and outdoor flag poles . It’s easy to use, the navigation is simple and straight forward, but it’s easy to see where you want to go and how to get there.
They are adding a wider range of worldwide flags in different sizes and I think that’s a great idea - . In the patriotic gifts section, I can think of a lot of other products – coffee mugs, pens, office products, babies and kids t-shirts and caps. No really tacky souvenirs though.  Harley-Davidson branded branded US flag products would be very popular - I’d certainly buy them!  The range of flag themed decorations such as bunting and table skirts is very good.
On the down side, if this was my first visit, say through a google search or a click through, I wouldn’t have stayed to look around. It just doesn’t have much visual impact or anything to ‘do’. People like to interact on the web, not just browse through the equivalent of a paper catalogue.  I’d say you could be missing out on converting a lot of lookers to buyers becasue the visual impact just isn’t there. That’s a shame because there is a great range of products on this site and they are very competitively priced.
I really liked the site and have bookmarked it to use myself, but I think that its visual appearance is not inviting enough to lure in the casual clicker. I think the site needs to be more dynamic and interactive site. It’s great that you have a lot of info – loved the flag care section – but people need to DO stuff too. Even a wizard where you could design your own personalised flag to print out at home, or even have a personalised actual flag made. A information area for school kids to look up flags of the world and semaphore, which is the language of using flags to give instructions and directives would bring people back to the site and give you a wider target audience.
