Numerologists study the energy of numbers in our lives and how they affect us.  The simplest form of Numerology calculates the value of letters in a name or a birth date and reduces it to a single number.  The number is said to contain the key to your personality, strengths and challenges as well as being a predictor of future events.

The Egyptians and Babylonians are recorded as using numerology over 10,000 years ago. Pythagoras taught numeroogy in the Greek mystery schools over 2,500 years ago. s ago.

Christian mysticism, the Jewish Kabbalah, and the Indian Vedas also informed the development of numerology.

Most numerologists use a procedure called digit summing. If dealing with a number, such as a birth date, they add up all the numbers in that date of birth, then they add the total of those numbers until a single number is arrived at.  For example, 25 May 1970 is expressed numerologically as:

 2+5+5+1+9+7=29

2 + 9 = 11

1+1 = 2.

When dealing with a word, such as a name, each letter of the alphabet is assigned a number.

When adding the letters of a name or word, each letter is given a number value starting from A=1.

Then the same steps as above are followed, with the numbers calculated until one number is left.

The numbers 11, 22, and 33 are often considered ‘master numbers’ and are not reduced.  They have their own specific meaning in numerology.
